If you love food and wine, you’ll find something to cheer about in our RHW Happenings. Winemaker dinners, tasting schedules, Bordeaux futures, holiday cases, upcoming sales.... It can all be found here!
Bordeaux Futures refer to Bordeaux wines that are purchased the year following their production, while the wine is still aging in barrel. Every spring, the major producers in Bordeaux offer their wines to be purchased in advance at a price that is typically much lower than the release price two years later.
2020 marks the 27th annual release of the RHW Holiday Cases. Enjoy savings of 20% or more while sampling 12 different wines from around the globe. We have three Holiday Cases to choose from, including our “Platinum” Holiday Case, which features an ultra-premium selection from many of the world’s most prestigious wine regions.
Typically this would be an announcement of our in-store Sale that takes place on the final Saturday of August each year. We would normally have hundreds of clients coming to our store to re-stock their cellars for the fall. However, given the high risk such a gathering poses to our staff, our families and our clients, we have made the decision to host our August Sale as a short series of online "Flash Sales", similar to those we posted earlier this year. These sales will take place on Tuesday, August 18th and Tuesday, August 25th. Both sales will last 48 hours, with savings up to 30%.
We take our Australian wines very seriously at Richmond Hill Wines. Our focus has always been boutique, high quality producers that showcase the premium old vineyards that Australia is blessed with. Over the years we have also had the distinct privilege of getting to know many of these producers on a personal level, and none more so than our good friend Ben Glaetzer.
It was a very proud moment for us in the summer of 2016 when we first tasted the wines of Little Engine from Naramata, British Columbia. Our friend of more than 15 years sat at the tasting table in our store and walked us through his lineup from the first vintage of his new winery that had been over 5 years in the making.
